'Coupling'

They have just become part of a very different kind of TV cliffhanger, with a real "Extra" twist: the viewers can actually help decide the very fate of the NBC sitcom "Couplings." And two of the stars, Rena Sofer and Jay Harrington, came marching into our studio to rally public support.

Sofer says, "The challenge to you guys is to watch the show [Thursday]."

The comments will then be read Friday during "Extra."

Sofer and Harrington, who play the couple in "Coupling," say flat out that they want to stand on their own, and not be considered a replacement for "Friends." Another misconception is that "Coupling" is nothing more than a wild, sex romp. Sofer says, "It’s a relationship show of a different kind. It’s a love story."

Watch Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on NBC, and you can judge for yourself.
