Star Sightings
It was the Hollywood Awards Gala ceremony Monday night, and that means plenty of stars to see, including honorees like Anthony Hopkins, Drew Barrymore, and Goldie Hawn.
Haley Joel Osment was there to present and has a big, new project in the works. He says, "I am getting my driver’s license pretty soon."
And Ellen DeGeneres took a break from her hit talk show to hand out an award. She says, given some time, she could handle another "Finding Nemo" fish film. She says, "I would have a few years to get my voice back before talking whale again."
New York City had its own gala last night and this one was to benefit project A.L.S. Gina Gershon, Billy Baldwin, and Edie Falco were on hand to help. Falco says, "Any chance I get to help out, I will take."
The A.L.S. project has raised almost $17 million.
And Monday night "Extra" joined lots of Lakers, like new guys Karl Malone and Gary Payton, as Shaquille O'Neal hosted a party to benefit the Lakers Youth Foundation. Shaq says, "This is bigger than any Emmy event." Malone adds, "Shaq is a party guy."
Tom Arnold, Penny Marshall, and Russell Simmons were at Avalon in Hollywood to party too. And "Extra’s" Jon Kelly was lucky enough to hit the stage as auctioneer to help raise cash for the cause.
And even though the most talked about Laker was absent, Kobe Bryant was on the minds of his teammates. Payton says, "We just open our arms to him."
