Fashion Statement
From runways to red carpets, durable denim has stood the test the time. Halle and Nicole don theirs, and now the brand your grandfather wore is back in Vogue. Smith’s Jeans are making a fashionable comeback.
Designer Melanie Drake gave "Extra" an advanced look at the new, sexy Smith’s. She says, "They are sexy western influence and work wear influence combined. We took men’s looks and made them into women’s sexy fits, and we took t-shirts and shrunk them to make them small."
Cindy Crawford loves hers and Cosmo Girl cover beauty Britney Spears is on the Smith’s bandwagon too; she has ordered several pairs. But "Cabin Fever" actress Cirena Vincent is the ultimate fan. Vincent says, "They're comfy, they feel good, they look good, they're flattering, they're slimming; I mean why would you wear anything else?"
The new rugged denim work wear includes updated styles, bright, vivid colors, and sexy low rise. They come in painter pants, cargo pants, mini skirts, and overalls. Expect a brand new men’s line next spring.
Steven Lieberman and Richard Cotler are responsible for bringing the old name back. Lieberman says, "We’re also trying to build a higher-end image for a higher-end customer." Cotler adds, "Over the last few years the fashion market has been getting very influenced by vintage."
With styling Smith’s, what was once old, is new again.
