Breast Cancer Awareness Month
You can call them cause celebrities: Demi Moore, Heidi Klum, and Nicole Kidman are just some superstars speaking out for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Kidman says, "I've see a lot of pain in relation to cancer in my family and extended family and also friends. I think it’s important to give back."
Nicole is the face of a national campaign for Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key to the Cure. Saks is also where stars like Demi Moore showed up to support the Women’s Cancer Research Fund. And actor Scott Foley has a very personal reason for being involved. He says, "Growing up I lost my mother to ovarian cancer and I always wanted to do something about it. That’s why I lend my time and support."
"Early Show" co-host Rene Syler knows firsthand the importance of early detection. Her recent mammogram revealed a lump that her doctors have to monitor. Her dad died of cancer and her mom Ann is a survivor.
The trick to beating breast cancer is to catch it early. Ann says, "It was a very early cancer that was discovered by a mammogram so that was a very lucky thing."
