Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. took the windy city and "Extra" by storm at the Midwest premiere of "The Singing Detective" at the Chicago International Film Festival, where Robert Downey Jr. was also awarded a career achievement award.

With a troubled past behind him, not only has Downey found a career high at the tender age of 38, but he's found love again with his new girlfriend Susan Levin. The two met on the Vancouver set of Downey’s upcoming thriller "Gothika," which Levin produced.

And while the actor has had his fair share of bad press, it looks like he's finally being highlighted for what he does best-- acting.

Critics are applauding Downey’s film, "The Singing Detective." "Extra" asked the Sun Times Film Critic Richard Roeper which way his thumbs were heading. Roeper says, "I haven’t officially given it a thumbs up, but I think you can tell where I’m going with that."
