Eminem's '8 Mile'
Rapper Eminem's already made it big on the music charts. Now, he's making it even bigger -- on the big screen.
Hip-hop's bad boy Eminem is taking his rap to the big screen in the highly anticipated film, "8 Mile." The film co-stars Kim Basinger as his trailer park mother and sexy Brittany Murphy as his girlfriend. And Brittany, who says Eminem is an "extraordinary actor," claims her co-star went the extra mile to prove he's more than a raunchy rapper
Loosely based on Eminem's real life, "8 Mile" is a hip-hop drama about a white kid who uses rhyme to reason his way out of a bleak existence in Detroit. Eminem says he had to do a lot of soul-searching to find his character, Jimmy, and exposed a deeply personal side to the rapper that's rarely seen by the public. He says, "It took me back to that time…before I was Eminem, before I was anybody…I was humbled."
The music mogul's attitude on set impressed even the film's producer, Brian Grazer and director Curtis Hanson, the man behind the Oscar-winning "L.A. Confidential." Said Curtis, "Early on he expressed that he had no interest in being in an "Eminem" movie. He wanted to be an actor in a good movie."
"8 Mile" is already drawing rave reviews, indicating that Eminem might just turn out to be a multi-media threat!
