Jessica Capshaw
The legal eagles are back with more controversial cases for season seven of "The Practice." And this year, an actress with a royal Hollywood pedigree joins the prestigious Boston firm. Jessica Capshaw, whose mom is Kate Capshaw and whose step-dad is Steven Spielberg, plays new associate Jamie Stringer
Jessica says watching her powerful showbiz parents has helped her carve her own career path as an actress. She says, "Their effect on people in the media is not lost on me and so there is a sort of comfort that I have had with other actors, or not being as star struck as you would be if you didn't have all those people around you all the time."
Jessica, 26, says her calling came at age six while hanging around with mom on movie sets. She says, "And seeing her go from the sweats and t-shirt in the morning to all the sudden the luxury and drama of playing Willy Scott in ‘Indiana Jones.’"
Jessica says she was a big fan of David E. Kelley's acclaimed drama before landing her role as the firm’s new lawyer. Jessica says of her character, "It’s her first year out of law school, and she’s a young woman who’s an overachiever to say the least."
Co-stars Dylan McDermott and Camyrn Manheim agree it's tough joining a cast that's been together so long. Camryn says, "She is very charming and really compelling, and we're lucky to have her."
And Jessica feels lucky to land a role as a lawyer on her favorite TV show. She says, "To be a fan, and then to be sitting in these courtrooms is completely surreal."
