Ann Wilson
Ann Wilson is 60 pounds lighter on her feet and it showed during Heart's summer concerts. "Extra" caught up with the newly svelte singer last week in Los Angeles.
She's the latest to join a growing list of celebrities including Roseanne, Sharon Osbourne, and Carnie Wilson, who all opted for weight loss surgery. Ann says, "I've always loved myself no matter what size I was, but I felt that because of my joint pain and back pain and everything it was time to address these health issues."
Wilson struggled with her weight all her life, enduring ridicule as a child and humiliation as Heart's front person. Rather than another diet, last January Wilson chose the LAP-BAND - it's the least invasive weight loss surgery. The band reduces the size of the stomach and makes patients feel fuller sooner. Wilson says, "You eat a quarter of what you used to eat and you are perfectly happy with that."
Wilson says she wants to lose another 50 pounds and admits going public isn't easy. She says, "Sometimes you feel like, ‘Oh my God, do I have to talk about this again?’ But I do it because I really want other people to know that there is another option here."
