Monsters, Inc.
Wednesday October 31, 2001

Bob Hope came to the rescue during World War II, and "Laugh-In" was there during Vietnam. Now the job of keeping wartime America happy on the home front has fallen upon the furry shoulders of some lovable monsters. If their comic antics take our minds off combat for even a couple of hours, the new Disney movie "Monsters Inc." might just be a monster hit at the box office.

It worked for Billy Crystal and also John Goodman, who wanted to cheer everyone up. Ditto for the rest of the all-star cast of voices that help bring the computer-animated monsters to life including James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, and John Ratzenberger of “Cheers” fame. He says it's a good time for some merry monsters, “Especially now, the situation we're in, the world's in, you can go laugh and feel good."

You can also sing along to the songs of Randy Newman Newman's feel-good music, combined with monsters, children, and laughter, may be just what the doctor ordered for a nation at war.
