Mariah Carey
Friday October 26, 2001

It's the countdown to the Radio Music Awards. Scheduled to be on hand are artists like Elton John, Christina Aguilera, Sugar Ray, and Mariah Carey. Sitting down only with "Extra," Mariah gave us the exclusive details about her appearance at tonight's show at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

Mariah says, “I'm going be performing a little. I don't really like medleys, but I did something like a special rendition of two of my songs."

Those songs are "Never Too Far" from her "Glitter" CD and her chart-topping ballad "Hero," which has become sort of an anthem for the country since she belted it out at last month's celebrity telethon. Mariah says, “A lot of people have said they've been playing the song ‘Hero’ since the recent events in the world."

The native New Yorker, herself deeply affected by the tragedy, has clearly overcome her highly publicized personal breakdown making show stopping performances at last weekend's VH1/Vogue awards" and "United We Stand" concert. Come this January, she makes an appearance as a matchmaker on "Ally McBeal" and Mariah says that's not all. She tells us, “I have a lot of things planned."
