D.C. Charity Concert
Monday October 22, 2001

Michael Jackson shined at center stage in Washington D.C. Sunday night as the "United We Stand" charity concert pulled in headliners like Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, James Brown, and N'Sync.

The sold-out show opened with a moving personal dedication from the Backstreet Boys, who lost their friend and roadie Danny Lee in the attacks. He was on the doomed American Airlines flight from Boston.

Less then 24 hours after the Madison Square Garden gig, this cash-raising concert raked in over two million dollars. Flag waving fans were in high spirits for the eight-hour concert. The “King of Pop” ended the night with a patriotic performance, complete with back-up singers like Macaulay Culkin. When it comes to uniting the American spirit, we all know the show must go on.

ABC television will air a condensed version of the eight-hour concert on November 1st.
