'C.S.I.' Preview
Thursday October 18, 2001

Marg Helgenberger's motley crew of crime scene investigators have, in one season, seen their sleeper hit “C.S.I” wake up big time and soar in the ratings.

“C.S.I” invited “Extra” onto the set outside Los Angeles that literally has a family atmosphere. Star William Petersen's wife and kids think nothing of coming to see dad at work both as actor and as producer. Peterson says “C.S.I.” will always be about the forensics. He says, “Crimes will be committed, crimes will be solved."

This season, get ready to learn even more about each character. Last season, we saw glimpses of it, like Marg's character Catherine Willows' dark past: she had been a stripper on the Vegas strip.

The audience clearly wanted more of Eric Szmanda's character, lab tech Greg Sanders, who went from one episode to a full-fledged regular this year.

They are trying to keep it light on the set even while shooting episodes that will have more plot lines “ripped from today's somber headlines.” And with another season of twists and tricks, the “C.S.I.” gang says the real crime would be not watching.
