Lucille Ball’s crazy antics and lovable misadventures changed the face of television comedy. Tonight, 50 years to the day after the first episode of "I Love Lucy" aired, Nick at Night's TV Land has a special treat for its audience.

Tonight, TV Land is recreating that moment in time. Presenting that first episode, unedited and running as much of it as possible, just as it was. That blast from the past includes Lucy and Desi animated figures, cigarette sponsorship, and a good-natured battle of the sexes that audiences would come to know and love.
Author Lee Tannen says, "She, as she always said, delivered the goods which was an understatement because no one delivered the goods like Lucy."
Tannen met the beloved star through Lucy's second husband Gary Morton. Lee and Lucy formed a special bond despite their nearly 20 year age difference. He says, “I think she saw me as a surrogate son, and I think I saw her as a surrogate mother."
Tannen's new book, "I Loved Lucy," illustrates the special friendship the two shared and offers some intriguing Lucy trivia. Her favorite television stars included Vivian Vance, Oprah Winfrey and Vanna White. Spam was one of her favorite foods, and her favorite “I Love Lucy” episode of all time was “The Operetta.” Tannen says, “She loved the episode because she looked so ridiculous."
Lee also reveals that even though Lucy remarried, her one true love was always Desi Arnaz. He says, “It was just obvious if you spent anytime with Lucia, and Desi’s name was mentioned, how in love with him she was."
For fifty years, their love has made people laugh. Now, with a new home on Nick at Night, new generations will be able to love Lucy too.
