Diane Lane
Diane Lane is basking in beauty in "Under the Tuscan Sun."
Lane plays a heartbroken divorcee who leaves chilly San Francisco and a cheating husband behind to start over in the warmth of the Tuscan sun. The landscape sounds great, but even the breathtaking Italian countryside can take its toll.
Lane says, "It was so challenging because it was so beautiful. I was so in love and so missing my family. After five weeks in paradise you get homesick just like five weeks anywhere. Here I am, and I’m missing LA. What’s wrong with me?"
What was wrong was Diane being away from her daughter Eleanor, her new fiancé Josh Brolin, and his two kids. Lane says, "He came over and brought the children, and we had Thanksgiving in Italy."
There is definitely a sparkle in Diane's eye and on her finger, and she tells "Extra" about her reaction when he popped the big question. She says, "He designed it. And I fell down. We were out in an open field though, so it was okay to fall down."
And while Josh has literally swept Diane off her feet, in the film, Diane falls for Italian stallion Raoul Bova. Bova says, "I was such an admirer of hers since 1984 from "The Cotton Club" and completely fell in love with her. She was great."
As far as leading men go, Lane is on a solid role. She has co-starred with Richard Gere, Olivier Martinez, and now Raoul Bova. Lane says, "There’s a joke about me that there’s something in my contract that says I need to have a torrid love affair with a European man in every film."
And fans can have a love affair with Lane when "Under the Tuscan Sun" opens September 26th.
