Britney Spears

It's Britney Spears up close and personal. And she's setting the record straight about her career, her love life, and even that kiss. She says, "I didn't know it was going to be that long. She like touched my hair and everything. She's a sexy lady."

She is so sexy, Britney says, that the VMA lip lock was Madonna's idea. Britney says, "We kind of played around in rehearsal a little bit and she kind of did that and she said 'Well, when we actually do it, let's just feel it out and see what happens.' So that's what we did."

"Extra" caught up with Britney in Washington D.C, sharing the stage with Mary J. Blige and Aretha Franklin to promote their concert which kicks off the NFL season.

And now that she's officially a friend of Madonna's, Britney confesses that sharing the stage with her childhood idol was almost too overwhelming. She says, "Seriously, after that happened, I know it sounds mushy and really silly, but I wanted to cry. Because it's something that I've dreamed about since I was a little girl."

And speaking of friends, what is true about the reports of Britney's romance with Jared Leto? She says, "I am so focused on my career, I don't have time for men. I sound a little bitter, don't I?"

She's not bitter, but Britney certainly is busy. She's about to release a new CD and is fielding questions about wanting her own talk show. She says, "I would like to be involved maybe as a producer. But I wouldn't like to be the next Oprah."

Fans will be happy if she just sticks to being the first and only Britney.
