For nominees like "24's" Kiefer Sutherland,
it's an honor just to be in Emmy contention. He says, "We
love making the show. And any kind of recognition to bring
us a larger audience and give us job security is more than
welcome."
Emmy nominations for Jane Kaczmarek are a true family affair. This year she announced both her own nomination for "Malcolm in the Middle," and her husband Bradley Whitford for his work on "The West Wing." But he was in no mood to celebrate. Jane says, "He was sick. He was home in bed with kidney stones. I was partying and having my lips touched up. I had a very different morning than he did."
And when David Duchovny got his Emmy nomination for a guest spot on "Life With Bonnie," his wife Tea Leoni was certainly not overwhelmed. Duchovny says, "She was there and I told her and she’s like, ‘Uh that’s great, your son just fell on his head.’"
For many nominees it's all about what to wear. "West Wing" nominee Allison Janney told "Extra" she found her answer quickly at Badgley Mischka. She says, "I happened to be in New York when I found out I was nominated. I called them up, they said come on over, I tried on a dress and said, ‘Yah, this is great.’"
And "Alias" nominee Victor Garber's Emmy getup is all worked out. He says, "I have a tuxedo that hopefully will still fit."
Garber will get through his Emmy night nerves with help from fellow nominee and series star Jennifer Garner. Jennifer says, "It’s fun to go and sit next to Garber, hold his hand and say isn’t this awful and aren’t we lucky to be here. We’re all really thrilled and pleased."
Bernie Mac will be pulling double duty on Emmy night, as a nominee and co-host. But he told "Extra" he has no worries. He says, "I'm always ready. Say my name, point, and open the curtain, I'm coming out. Be careful what you ask for, you are going get it."
