MTV Video Music Awards
Missy
Elliot, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and 50 Cent: let the battle
for the moon men begin.
They're all in the running. But who'll grab a coveted 2003 Video Music Award? The first category is best male video. Big names mean big competition and it's between Eminem, 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, and old time favorite Johnny Cash.
Iann Robinson of MTV News says, "My pick would be Johnny Cash because he deserves all of it. He deserves best female video."
Best female video looks like the most competitive category: from teen pop queen Avril Lavigne to Beyoncé, and Jennifer Lopez. But keep your eyes open for eight-time nominee Missy Elliot to walk away victorious. Gideon Yago, also from MTV News, says, "It would be a travesty and a crime if she didn't."
The race is on for best pop video, where America's choice Kelly Clarkson could beat out more established names. Iann says, "I think Kelly Clarkson has a really good opportunity to win because she is on everybody's mind and she's in everybody's heart."
The favorite for best dance video is Justin. Gideon says, "That dude can boogie."
The plum prize is video of the year and if our experts had to choose, Johnny Cash would win for his video Hurt, but Missy Elliott may have the edge. Who will be moon walking with the moon man? Find out this Thursday on MTV.
Missy, Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Mary J. Blige are on the long list of performers scheduled for Thursday's VMAs.
