Arnold Hits the Campaign Trail
The Terminator's campaign is kicking into high
gear. He says, "I’m feeling really great. We're going
to get a lot done today."
Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting into his new role as a political candidate Wednesday, unveiling his plan to fix the finances of California.
The republican hopeful already has tongues wagging over his new commercial and his campaign team of wealthy Warren Buffett, former secretary George Shultz and fellow actor Rob Lowe.
Rob, an admitted political animal, tells "Extra" from the set of his new show "The Lyon's Den," that Arnold means one thing, leadership. Rob says, "That’s what Arnold will bring to the state. He will put people above politics. I’m happy to serve."
And at the St. Jude’s cancer research benefit, Runway For Life, Allison Janney, Lowe's former co-star on "The West Wing," told us Rob is a natural. She says, "I love that he’s helping Arnold. I’ve never known anyone more into politics. He was the only republican on ‘The West Wing.’"
Not everyone is so supportive. Cybill Shepherd is standing by the man she says she made out with years ago, Gray Davis. She says, "I believe he's a great man. He's served us very well."
And other stars, like Antonio Banderas at the premier of his new movie "Poncho Villa," simply support the big man's choice. He says," Actors are a social entity, they have a right to run."
And now, as the campaign for governor roars toward the October seventh recall election, the man who's made a career out of running around a gym and a movie set will find out what it really means to be in a race.
