Screening Room
It's the nanny versus the cowboy. "Uptown Girls" goes head to head with "Open Range" in this weekend’s box office battle. Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning’s million-dollar comedy will compete with Kevin Costner’s million-dollar epic.
According to Kevin, "Open Range" puts a twist on the classic Wild Wild West. He says, "The genre has traditionally been leaving women out and Annette Bening is so strong in the movie."
For something completely different, check out "American Splendor." It’s the real-life story of Harvey Pekar, a quirky file clerk whose comic becomes a cult hit. Paul Giamatti and Hope Davis tackle the main roles, and their work already won a grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Expect big things from all three movies, in theaters on August 15th.
