'Idol' Hometowns

While fans across America watched the final three rock on "American Idol" Tuesday night, "Extra" was watching with the fans in the finalists hometowns: Burleson, Texas, Grand Praire, Texas, and Doylestown, Philadelphia.

Besides finding entire cities full of folks with more opinions than Simon, our hometown tour also uncovered some hidden treasures, like Kelly proving her prowess in a play at Burleson High. Teachers here say she was always destined for fame, even when she held a bottle instead of a microphone. One teacher says, "Kelly was extremely friendly and spunky and outgoing, just like what you see on the show."

And remember Justin’s near-perfect performance of that Elton John hit? There may be a secret behind his success. He belted out the same tune back in Philly as a singer with a crazy group of performers, Cutting Edge Entertainment.

The trio will soon be cut down to two, but in their hometowns, Kelly, Justin, and Nikki are already American idols.
