Jason Priestley Injured in Crash
In 1999, Jason Priestley joked about totaling his Porsche. But now, the 32-year old actor is lucky just to be alive after smashing his racecar into a wall at nearly 180 miles per hour. The result: a broken back, broken nose, two broken feet, and a concussion.
Jason's concerned father Lorne looked on as emergency room doctors at a Kentucky hospital announced they were optimistic Jason will have a complete recovery.
Priestley is best known for his role as Brandon Walsh on the TV series "Beverly Hills, 90210." But few people knew that over the past 10-years he's been moonlighting as a race car driver. Sunday, Priestley was in Kentucky for an Indy race, but crashed his car on a practice run before the race started. Earlier, in an interview with ESPN, he admitted he had some misgivings about this race. He said, "We had a few problems and we didn't get as much time testing the cars as we would have liked."
This morning, Jim Freudenberg, the general manager of Priestley's race team, met with the actor. He says Jason is still having a hard time speaking, but was upset when he saw photos of the crash for the first time.
Priestley has been involved in several other accidents: crashing a powerboat, another racecar, and the well-publicized accident with his Porsche. But those who know Priestley best say he will recover and he will get behind the wheel of a racecar once again.
