Robin Leach's Vegas
Robin Leach fulfilled our champagne wishes and he's about to make our caviar dreams come true. He says, “Look at me. I'm ninety years of age, a glass of champagne a day certainly keeps the doctor away."
Now
Robin takes "Extra" on a tour of his personal paradise,
Las Vegas, and picks his favorite places to play. He says,
“Las Vegas is the hottest, most happening place in the
world at this moment."
There's the Gaming Club with mind-boggling stakes. Robins
says, “One night somebody bet $20 million. It was an Australian
multi-millionaire. I don’t think he was that much of a
multi after he left the table."
You can lose more than that on the world's highest roller
coaster atop The Stratosphere. Robin says, “You lose your
stomach, you lose your legs, you lose absolutely everything."
But Robin insists even the poor and unknown can have a
good time in Sin City with free shows. Robin says, “You
will be spellbound when you listen to the dancing fountains
that move to the music of Andre Baccelli in the lagoon
outside the Bellagio."
But Robin prefers fancy to free. He's more at home in
the fine eateries that dot the strip, like the Mandalay
Bay's Aureole with it's three-story high wine rack. He
says, “They employ young ladies on bungee cords to drop
up and down this tower to pick the wine up."
And when this Londoner wants a touch of Europe he only
has to stroll into the re-creation of St. Mark's Square
at the Venetian. Robins says, “This is as close as it
gets to the real thing in Italy."
There are musical cruises on the canal and strange statues.
Finally it's time for a little refreshment at the Venetian’s
V Bar where the barman creates a hard-hitting concoction
called “a baseball bat."
Robin leaves us by saying, “So from Las Vegas, the hot
spot capital of the world, cheers! Not champagne wishes,
but baseball bat dreams." |
