Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez

Ben Affleck can't believe there's still confusion about his relationship with Jennifer Lopez. He says, "The weirdest thing is people think it's like a publicity stunt, it's all orchestrated. What am I, Rock Hudson in the 30's?"

First Jen, then Ben, sat down with "Extra" to tell us about their new romantic comedy, "Gigli."

While their engagement is anything but a publicity stunt, Jen hopes their real-life love affair isn't too big a distraction. She says, "You know, it's funny. I hate that people have to go into the movie with so much baggage. You want them to just go and see the film and enjoy it."

In the movie, Ben plays a tough guy, but he admits that off screen it's his better half you'd be wise to watch out for. Ben says, "She's for real tough. I'm just a fake tough guy."

Jennifer says, "Well, you know I am from New York. So I guess I have the New York edge to me occasionally."

Jenny don't play, which explains why Ben's a little nervous about her upcoming birthday. He says, "I haven't quite figured it out. I'm somewhat of a procrastinator. I'll wait for inspiration, but she's a tough person to buy for."

Jen says, "I like thoughtful things; finding the right card. You have to read it and that takes a lot more time."

Of course, after her birthday, it might just be time for a wedding. Then, who knows what's next? Jen says, "I want children. I want a family desperately."

First things first: "Gigli" opens nationwide August 1st.
