Planet Hope
Tucked away in the posh celebrity filled hills of Malibu is a very special place: Camp Planet Hope.
A sanctuary for the homeless since 1993, Camp Planet Hope is the brainchild of Sharon Stone and her sister Kelley. Sharon says, "It became a summer camp for homeless kids and now is a summer camp for them and their moms."
Hollywood heavyweights Catherine Zeta-Jones, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Michael Clarke Duncan also have been touched by the cause. And for today's visit, Camp Planet Hope teams with Project Daymaker, giving the ladies a rare treat: complimentary pampering.
The brainchild of Aveda and David Wagner, Daymaker was actually inspired by real life events. David says, "There was a regular client of mine that came in and just wanted to look good. So I just treated her really well and she gave me this big hug when I was done. And two days later I got a letter from her and she explained that the reason she came in to look good and feel good was because she was planning on committing suicide and the half hour that we spent changed her mind."
You don't have to be a superstar to realize the difference a day can make.
