Duran Duran
They were the second coming of the British invasion and now they're back. "Extra" was on the Sunset strip outside the Roxy where the toast of Hollywood cane out Tuesday to support a band that was here 25 years ago.
Simon is still hot, John Taylor’s do is a bit subdued, but 18 years after their last concert, Duran Duran still rocks. Just ask their famous fans who were singing Duran’s praises on the Los Angeles stop of the bands reunion tour. Christina Applegate says, "I was 11 years old, I was obsessed with them."
Mark McGrath says, "I thought I was John Taylor. I’m still trying to be my whole life, dying my hair blonde and I still do."
Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale were singing the bands praises, as was Christina Applegate. But Mark McGrath takes the prize for biggest fan. He says, "Duran Duran was a huge influence on my life growing up. My first kiss, I think ‘Save A Prayer’ was on."
The 80's icons are hitting the road and releasing a new album. Nick Rhodes says, "When five of you have an incredible chemistry together, that's quite rare. We sort of all realized that."
So what's it like to be rock stars again? Simon says, "When you’re 18, who cares? You just do what you like. When you’re in your forties, you got to be a little smarter, a little less abusive, a bit more sleep."
