Stars To Watch
They're the hot and happening young bucks and
beauties sizzling at the cinema this summer: Keira, Cillian,
Kristanna, and Gerard. Us Weekly's Janice Min gave "Extra"
the dish on Hollywood’s new it list.
For starters, there's "Pirates of the Caribbean" treasure, Keira Knightley. Min says, "People are calling her the new Uma Thurman because she is this tall, willowy blonde who also radiates a lot of intelligence."
But the 18-year-old Brit says even after her surprise hit "Bend It Like Beckham," she expected Hollywood to send her packing. She says, "I thought I’d be sacked every single day. I only packed for a week when I first came over here."
Next up, Keira is set to play Guinevere in Jerry Bruckheimer's update of "King Arthur."
Kristanna Loken is the curvaceous killer putting the smackdown on Arnold in "Terminator 3." Min says, "She's someone who's been able to make the transition from model to actress pretty successfully."
The bad to the bone Maxim vixen beat out 10,000 other women for the "T3" role. She says, "I think I’ve always had a certain strength about me and I was really able to connect to that part of myself for this job."
Now, the boys of summer are getting a piece of the action too. Min says, "Gerard Butler is definitely not a household name, but he will be later this summer."
The dashing Scotsman took a bite out of the box-office as the bloodthirsty count in "Dracula 2000." Now the rugged hunk's going toe-to-toe with Angelina Jolie in "Tomb Raider 2: The Cradle of Life."
Hoards of bloodthirsty zombies aren't the only things making
"28 Days Later" fan's hearts beat faster. 29-year-old
Irish import Cillian Murphy has scared-up quite a following
after starring in this summer's smartest horror flick. Min says,
"What's great about Cillian, even though he's palsy with
Colin Farrell, he doesn't have that bad boy persona. He is kind
of what you can bring home to mom."
And they're four rising stars set to bring home success at the box office.
