Martin Lawrence
His new flick, "Martin Lawrence: Runteldat," has all the crazy flavor you can expect from the bad boy of stand-up comedy. Taking Hollywood and television by storm made Martin Lawrence a very famous man. The path he walked also made him extremely infamous.
Lawrence tells "Extra," "I figured
I’d get out and tell my story the right way. It's the truth,
in a humorous way. Do it before the ‘E! True Hollywood Story’
does it."
While his career skyrocketed in the mid '90's, his life out of the spotlight was caught up in scandal, erratic behavior, and drug rehab. Busted more than once for gun possession, Lawrence landed in jail and was hit with two years probation for a bar room fight. To go with his legal problems, Lawrence nearly lost his life, slipping into a coma after being hospitalized for heat exhaustion in 1999.
Martin has bounced back big time in the hit movie "Big Momma's House," and he's all set to hook-up with Will Smith for a sequel to their original blockbuster "Bad Boys." For now, Lawrence is simply hoping fans dig his new movie when it hits theaters next month. He says, "The beautiful thing is this film is the American dream. You can be down and you can get up, and that's what it's about."
