Living it Up On the Outside

The 5-month prison sentence hanging over her head didn't stop Martha Stewart from enjoying the good life this weekend. The convicted corporate goddess attended Russell Simmons' star-studded charity gala in the Hamptons on Saturday, where she found plenty of celebrity supporters, and the chance to speak exclusively with "Extra."

Sporting a bold new shade of blonde, Martha appeared more relaxed than in recent weeks, but it was clear that she remains miffed about her legal problems. When we asked her if she felt the authorities had been a little hard on her, she responded, "I hope you feel that way."

Kelly Ripa, Shannen Dougherty, Naomi Campbell, Mary J. Blige, Ashanti, Chevy Chase and Lorraine Bracco were among those joining Martha at the "Art for Life" benefit -- music-producer Russell Simmons' annual event helping disadvantaged children.

"Russell's, like, phenomenal," Martha told us of Simmons. "He's fantastic. And I think he's done an amazing job with his life and with all the things he does."

It was a night for some of New York's biggest stars to raise money for a great cause -- and for Martha Stewart to step out and speak up.
