Will 'Fatal Attraction' Go to Trial?
She sent creepy letters threatening Catherine Zeta-Jones, claimed to have an affair with Zeta-Jones' husband, Michael Douglas, and allegedly stalked the superstar couple. Now, 32-year-old Dawnette Knight is facing the judgment of the court.
"Extra" was there Thursday as the troubled woman appeared before a judge for a status hearing. Knight's attorney, Richard Herman, told "Extra" that his client sent Zeta-Jones a letter apologizing for "any distress," but she remains in jail on more than 24 counts, including criminal threats and stalking.
"She was infatuated with a movie star," Herman said,
adding, "She's facing 19 years in state prison for being
foolish."
Knight's fiancé, Ronald Calvin, said that despite her bizarre behavior, the Douglas family has nothing to fear.
"She's learned a very valuable lesson that will make her a good woman and a major asset to society," insisted Herman.
We'll find out if the district attorney agrees when Knight is back in court Monday to see if she'll stand trial.
