'The Grid' Takes On Terrorism

She was the sexy nurse who gave George Clooney some loving care on "ER," and he was the young, hot lawyer from "The Practice." But now, Dylan McDermott and Julianna Margulies, who formally starred in rival TV shows, find themselves on the same team for a new TNT limited series called, "The Grid."

Margulies will play a national security official in charge of a special British and American anti-terrorism squad and McDermott is her right-hand FBI agent. "You know we both were on our TV shows at the same time, so it's nice to be actually working in a very different environment," Margulies insisted.

"She kind of tells me what to do," McDermott added about his role. "And I have to cow-tow to her and take orders from her."

But "The Grid" is far from a battle of the sexes; both stars told "Extra" during a set visit that the show takes a deadly-serious look at all aspects of the war on terrorism. "What I thought was great about this, was that it was objective," McDermott told us.

This is also one of the actor's first projects since leaving his role as defense attorney Bobby Donnell on "The Practice." "My lifestyle has changed a bit, so it's kind of nice to do something, stop, and do something else," McDermott admitted.

Both McDermott and Margulies have more movies coming up, but Margulies promised us, "They're going to be on the comedy side, especially after a job like this."

The six-hour TNT limited series premieres Monday, July 19th. And for more on "The Grid," as well as a sneak preview of the series, check out Friday's edition of "Extra."
