Whoopi's Comments Cost Her

Whoopi Goldberg may have been losing weight with Slim-Fast, but now Slim-Fast is losing Goldberg. Eight months after Whoopi's ads began running, the diet company suddenly dropped the comedian's campaign following remarks she made about President Bush at a John Kerry fundraiser last week.

Whoopi's rant was widely reported as "a stream of vulgar sexual wordplays on Bush's name," and Slim-Fast wasn't amused. The diet company claimed the insults offended many of its customers, so Slim-Fast decided to end its relationship with Goldberg.

Earlier this year, before Goldberg lost a ton of weight on the diet, the comedian told us, "They called and said, 'Listen, we think you could lose some weight.'"

Now, in a written statement, Whoopi is blasting back, saying, "Just because I'm no longer in those commercial spots, it doesn't mean I will stop talking."
