Teen Arrested in Deaths at Donaldson's Ranch

It's a story Sam Donaldson never wanted to be a part of: a grisly, triple homicide on his rural New Mexico ranch. Donaldson's ranch manager, his wife and stepdaughter were gunned down in their house on Donaldson's property and the number one suspect turned out to be the man's 14-year-old son.

"Extra" was at the ranch with investigators as they searched the crime scene, and on Thursday, Donaldson told "Good Morning America" the police were able to get at least a partial confession out of the boy.

"I went over there and went on the porch, there was a large stain there instantly recognizable," Donaldson said on "Good Morning America." "I'm informed that the young man has made certain admissions, taken the police to a spot on the Rio Benito River behind some alfalfa fields we have, where the gun was apparently thrown."

Donaldson continued, "This young person is suspected of taking our back hoe, pulling it up to the porch, dumping the bodies into the front-end loader, running them about 150 yards down to some soft earth that we have there and burying them. Then putting the back hoe back against the fence and leaving."

The boy was on summer break from school, but he's now behind bars while authorities decide whether or not to charge him as an adult. Donaldson said his family is saddened by the loss and admitted he never saw it coming. "Cody was the quiet one, but always polite," Donaldson insisted. "You would say that they were the all-American ranch family."
