Kerry's Hollywood Fundraiser
It was Hollywood power players playing politics. John Kerry has had star power throughout his bid for president, and Tuesday night was no different. The biggest names in film and music showed up to help Kerry raise money.
Jack Black served as both Kerry's supporter and the protector of his daughters, Alex and Vanessa, Tuesday night. And Black certainly had his eye on a democratic victory. "I would say the odds are 99.9 percent," Black insisted. "I think maybe one person will vote for George Bush."
Many of the pro-Kerry crowd had no qualms in voicing their opinions about our current president. William H. Macy attended the event with his wife, Felicity Huffman, where he told us that the deception of the war in Iraq made his political choice clear: "I've always thought that people who lie a little bit for the greater good are called liars."
The evening also included music from Jack Black's band, Tenacious D, Liz Phair and Lisa Loeb, who insisted, "Anything I can do, I will do."
Other Hollywood heavyweights, like David Spade, were just hoping to learn more about the candidate, telling us, "I like some stuff this guy says, and I want to find out more."
The night was also abuzz about Kerry's recent announcement that John Edwards would be his Vice Presidential running mate. But just because they're family, don't think that Kerry's daughters found out the news before everyone else. "We found out at the same time as the rest of the country," Kerry's daughter, Alex, told us. "He called us just as the press release was going out."
So it appears that come Election Day, the star power will be in Kerry and Edwards's court.
