Denis Leary
He's the gruff-but-lovable, chain-smoking friend of firefighters everywhere. Thursday night at a star-studded Comedy Central Celebrity Roast, caustic comedian Denis Leary's career went up in flames.
Jokesters Joy Behar, Gilbert Gottfried, and
Colin Quinn were among Leary's friends fanning the flames. But
it was the fabulous Elizabeth Hurley who sent photographers
into a frenzy, arriving with her Indian tycoon boyfriend, Arun
Nayar and blinding us with the huge diamond on her right hand
and denying any wedding plans.
Hurley has made two movies with Leary, including "Double Whammy," and he's one of her son's godfathers. So she wasn't dishing Denis dirt.
Famous friend and hockey buddy Kiefer Sutherland has shared a few nights with Leary that seemed to last as long as a season of "24," but he wasn't spilling secrets. Denis says, "I was talking to Kiefer on the phone and I said, ‘What are you going to say about me?’ And he said, ‘The great thing about me is if you're drunk, I'm usually drunker.’"
And roast master Jeff Garlin could hardly curb his enthusiasm about Denis. He says, "He's a great guy. That's why I’m here."
