The Olsen Twins
Reporter Erin Moriarty profiles the colossal cash empire of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Wednesday night on the CBS "48 Hours" special "Rich Kids."
The show also features multi-millionaires Frankie Muniz and rapper Lil’ Romeo, but it's the Olsen’s who rule the rich kids' roost. Moriarty says, "They have books, cosmetics, cosmetic bags, chairs, shoes, clothing, and videos. It's incredible."
Moriarty says the secret to the Olsen’s millions is simple: just take it to the 'tweens. They're the girls between the cartoon and teen movie age and the Olsens say they appreciate their wholesome image, since it's different than teen stars like Britney Spears. Ashley says, "She wants to do whatever she wants, good for her."
Mary-Kate adds, "We are not sexy. I don't know how to explain it."
Now with their mega-empire firmly in place, the Olsens' future looks like nothing but smooth sailing. Moriarty says, "They say that even if it didn't work out, they can live on a yacht for the rest of their lives."
