Lloyd Wright House

It's an architectural miracle - modern in structure, ancient in style, a Mayan temple mansion located in the heart of Los Angeles. Xorin Balbes says, "The house was built by Lloyd Wright, the son of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it was built in 1926."

Owner Xorin Balbes renovated the nearly 6,000 square foot house in only seven months, which is quite an accomplishment considering the shape it was in: a hidden treasure buried in dirt and rubble. Balbes says, "Everything needed to be restored from the foundation to all the concrete block."

Balbes transformed the ruins into a designer's dream complete with a courtyard swimming pool, stainless steel bathtub for two and a state of the art kitchen.

Asian elements accent this tranquil four bedroom, five-bath abode. Nearly each room opens to the central courtyard, a feat so unique it was recently featured in Architectural Digest and even Hollywood took notice. It was featured in the film "Nurse Betty."

This showplace, designed with parties in mind, has recently been put up for sale. Now for the right price, it’s a Mayan palace that mere mortals can call home.
