The Empire of Paris
Paris Hilton may be America's favorite party
girl, but there's more to her than just her looks and celebrity.
"Extra" takes a look at why, now more than ever,
all roads lead to Paris.
There's plenty of skin on view as Paris and
Nicki party at a nudist resort on Wednesday night's revealing
episode of "The Simple Life 2" on FOX. But on this
trailer-park trip, Paris the heiress and best friend Nicole
Ritchie are broke -- so broke, in fact, that they have to scrounge
cash from other customers to pay their bill at a Burger King
(the girls get away with it, as always).
In real life, however, pampered Paris is about as far from broke
as you can be. Her family, owners of the Hilton hotel chain,
is worth $600 million and Paris is reportedly set to inherit
an estimated $20 million dollar chunk of the empire. But beyond
her birthright, the blonde beauty is using her fame to build
her own mega fortune.
Entertainment reporter Merle Ginsberg confirms that, "Paris is a corporation very separate from her family."
Ginsberg, who is co-authoring a book with Paris called "Confessions of an Heiress: a Tongue in Chic Peek Behind the Pose," defines Paris as, "kind of a human Barbie."
But this living doll is creating a booming one-woman business for herself. According to Ginsberg, Paris "has a clothing line, she has 'The Simple Life' going on. She made a movie, 'House of Wax,' a horror movie."
There's also Paris perfume on the way, as well as an album due
out in July. "The single was fabulous," says Ginsberg.
"She describes it as sounding like Blondie."
And that's not all -- get ready to see even more of Paris in the new Guess fashions campaign. "I always wanted to be a Guess girl, ever since I was a little," said Paris. So it's, you know, a dream come true."
From living the dream life to experiencing "The Simple Life," Paris will be living large across the country. As she tells us, "I love what I'm doing and I'm proud of myself."
