Will Summer Belong to Spider-Man?
All of Hollywood got caught in the web of the
biggest premiere of the summer, Tuesday night. "Spider-Man
2" is set to be this summer's record-breaking sequel,
and all the stars came out for their big night.
"Spider-Man" Tobey McGuire took
the Hollywood hype in stride, smiling as he told us, "I
don't know, it's pretty exciting." And co-star Kirsten
Dunst kept her cool, admitting, "Usually I'm so nervous
I don't enjoy any of it, and I get a migraine. But right now
I'm really happy."
The "Spider-Man" sequel is expected to surpass the
first film's earnings, which brought in $800 million. And
all the big names are on board for round two -- along with
some new faces, including Alfred Molina, who is thrilled to
be the bad guy this time around. "I've been a bad guy
quite a few times, but I've never been in a sequel because
I always die," Molina told us. "So this might be
my one chance at fame."
Sarah Michelle Gellar and funnyman Tim
Allen, who are just a few of the famous "Spider-Man"
fans, came out to see the sequel. "It's probably the
biggest movie of the year," Gellar insisted.
"I'm a freaking geek for this,"
Allen added, and revealed his plan to grab a spot in the third
installment of the "Spider-Man" franchise: "I
told them that I want to be 'Irritant.' I could just irritate
Spider-Man."
But Maguire was one step ahead of Allen. He told us he's already
working on "Spider-Man 3." So can we expect a wedding
for Peter and MJ? "He's achingly in love with this girl,
so I don't know," Maguire revealed. "I can't say
much about it, but we are working on number three."
In the meantime, don't miss one of the biggest movies of the
summer when "Spider-Man 2" swings into theatres
next Wednesday.
