Star Sightings: Isn't It Romantic?
From premieres to poker, Monday night was a big one for Hollywood, and we've got all the details.
In New York, it was the debut of "De-Lovely,"
and stars Ashley Judd and Kevin Kline
arrived in grand style to the premiere of the Cole Porter bio-pic.
Kline came with his beautiful wife, Phoebe Cates,
and even revealed the secrets to their long and happy marriage.
"I think it's a testimony to her capacity for forgiveness,
understanding and compassion, he told us.
A beaming Alanis Morissette showed up with
her fiancé Ryan Reynolds, of "Van Wilder"
fame. The once-angry signer has a role in "De-Lovely,"
but Monday night, she only wanted to show off her rock and talk
about Ryan's proposal. "He asked my dad for his blessing,
which touched me so deeply," she revealed.
"De-Lovely" also stars singers Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, Robbie Williams, and Natalie Cole. It swings into theaters July 2nd.
Meanwhile, at the premiere of the romantic movie, "The
Notebook," Hollywood celebrated its new "It Girl"
as the buzz was all about Rachel McAdams. Her
co-star, Ryan Gosling, told "Extra"
he wouldn't have done the movie without her.
"She's lovely," he insisted. "She's talented, and I'm in it because she's in it."
As for the young star, McAdams said her whole family is thrilled about her skyrocketing career (she was recently the meanest of the "Mean Girls"), telling us, "Everyone's really excited. It's all new and it's great!"
"The Notebook" opens in theatres on Friday.
And away from the red carpet, Ben Affleck proved
that some guys have all the luck as he won $356,000 at a poker
tournament at the Commerce Casino near Los Angeles. He beat
out more than 80 other contestants, including "Spider-Man"
star Tobey Maguire. |
