Game Over for Jesse and Jessica
As NY Giants quarterback Jesse Palmer professed
his love to Jessica Bowlin before the nation on last season
of "The Bachelor," he extended the 22-year-old law
student a one-way plane ticket to New York, asking her to
follow her dreams with him. But now, that fairy-tale ending
is officially over, as the couple has decided to "mutually
end their relationship."
The couple cited distance as the reason for their amicable breakup, and claim there are no hard feelings from either party. Jessica never used her one-way plane ticket and the couple's everlasting love, which they professed on national TV just one month ago, has apparently faded.
"Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong today," Palmer told "Extra." "We simply realize that individually, our next steps take us in different directions."
Bowlin added, "With too much distance and too little time, these were not ideal circumstances in which to start a relationship. Jesse is a great guy and has a wonderful family. Who knows what the future holds?"
Palmer said he will continue to focus on his football career and Bowlin is concentrating on finishing law school.
During the course of the fifth season of "The Bachelor," Jesse narrowed the playing field of 25 beautiful, successful woman down to one. And although Palmer had an engagement ring in his pocket, he opted to give Bowlin the first-class, one-way plane ticket to New York.
After the show's finale, Jessica opted not to relocate, and the couple has since been trying to make a long-distance relationship work.
Palmer and Bowlin's breakup marks the fifth "Bachelor" couple that has broken up after the show aired. However, of the two "Bachelorette" couples, one pair is now married and the other is engaged.
