Catching Cole (and Linda Lee)
In the upcoming film "De-Lovely," Ashley Judd takes on the role of Linda Lee Porter, the celebrated wife of songwriting legend Cole Porter, played by Kevin Kline. And Judd's beauty is matched only by Kevin's spectacular speed-aging process.
Kline gave us a taste of the wonders of modern
makeup as the actor underwent a radical transformation to play
Ashley's complex husband on the screen, in a portrayal that
tracks the character of Cole from youth to death.
But things were much more comfortable for Ashley. When we sat
down to talk, Judd was absolutely wild about some special four-legged
friends she'd brought along. "This is Shug," said
Ashley, introducing her dog and laughing as it licked her. "She's
giving me a big kiss, which is a worry ‘cause she likes to lick
her ***."
But the real love of Ashley's life is her racecar driving husband,
Dario Franchitti. And Judd revealed one of the many perks of
marrying a racer. "In the car I get to sip the coffee,
put my feet up, look out the window, pet the dogs. I have a
driver for life."
But for now, Judd is behind the wheel of her brand new movie,
which also features cameo roles by modern hit makers like Alanis
Morissette, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall and Natalie Cole.
