Couric Hosts 'Tonight Show'
Katie Couric stayed up way past her bedtime and America got to see its favorite girl next door let her hair down. Superstar guests Mike Myers, Simon Cowell, and Robbie Williams seemed to really like Katie after dark.
Only "Extra" was backstage with Katie minutes before she traded places with Jay Leno and hosted "The Tonight Show." She said, "It's so much fun. We don't have a band on the ‘Today’ show."
Katie got several standing ovations and tons of laughs. But Katie really brought down the house by playing Paula Abdul in a mock "American Idol." And even the world's toughest judge had to admit Katie's imitation was a winner. Simon said, "Really, really good. At one point, I thought I was sitting next to Paula Abdul. It was spooky."
Only "Extra" spoke to a glowing and relieved Katie after the show. She said, "I think people were enthusiastic and embraced me in a nice way."
And now everyone knows that America's favorite morning star can shine any hour of the day.
