David Chase

Tony Soprano may be TV's most famous crime boss, but on the set of HBO's hit drama, the real boss is creator David Chase.

The award winning series, which takes an ingenious look at modern day mobsters, therapy, and contract killings, not only put HBO on the map, it forced all of Hollywood to rethink dramatic TV and made Chase one of Hollywood’s most powerful moguls.

Chase honed is craft as a writer and producer first on "The Rockford Files" and then "Northern Exposure" creating the rich characters that "Sex and the City's" Kim Cattrall says makes Chase a visionary. She says, "He has a passion as a storyteller, and as a writer and producer."

Chase revealed "The Sopranos" was originally written for Fox. He says, "One of the reasons why Fox hadn't bought it was I had delivered a mob show that nobody got killed. I thought, ‘Oh of course, that's what people come to a mob show for. They want to see somebody get whacked.’ So I fixed that."

As for season four of "The Sopranos," Chase says, "Last year to me was really about Tony and Carmela as parents. This year it's more about them as a couple."

Chase will surely conjure up more of the crazy mob life that keeps critics, fans, and TV titans praising "The Sopranos."
