Danny Elfman
He created the beat the monkeys marched to in "Planet of the Apes" and he gave the "Men In Black" a melody to fight with. Now "Spider-Man" is swinging to his songs.
Movie composer Danny Elfman is the man behind the music of over 70 projects, from his personal favorite, "Edward Scissorhands," to "Sleepy Hollow" and "The Simpsons."
Even with tons of tunes under his belt, Elfman says it never gets easier, especially with big budget extravaganzas like "Spider-Man." "I know when I’m getting into these large productions that I’m really thrashed by the end of the day," Elfman tells "Extra."
He says endless hours in front of the piano lead to one thing, "When you're hunched over a keyboard for 14, 15 hour a day, you end up like Quasimodo."
As for mental relief, Elfman says, "Sometimes I might just
scream, take off all my clothes, and run straight in the ocean."
There's been a lot of pressure to score for "Spider-Man,"
but Elfman says his instructions were clear. "There had
to be a clear, heroic theme, but there had to be a theme that
played the heart of this kid."
For his next musical masterpiece, Danny gave us a sneak sampling
of his project the opening score for his latest work: "Men
In Black 2." Seems like this is another score for Danny
Elfman. |
