'American Idol' Auditions
Somewhere out there is the next Britney Spears
or Ricky Martin, and a new reality show is working hard to
find them. But one "American Idol" producer says
some of these wanna-be pop princes & princesses are more
like frogs!
The newest reality show by Fox is a nationwide talent search known as "American Idol," and kids from all over the country are coming direct to Hollywood hoping to make it big on the show.
But if they're looking for easy let-downs, these would be Whitneys, Britneys and Backstreet Boys, have come to the wrong audition! How rough is it? Listen to these comments to pop star hopefuls by the show's judges: "You will never ever EVER have a career in singing," Want another? "There are only so many words to drag out of my vocabulary to say how awful that was."
Harsh words from the mouth of sharp-tongued music mogul Simon Cowell, recording artist Paula Abdul, and producer Randy Jackson. The three serve as judges of the new show, and are on the look out for the next singing sensation.
"American Idol" is a spin-off of the successful British show, "Pop Idol," where thousands of contestants compete for a major recording contract. Be sure to catch all the high notes when "American Idol" debuts next month.
