'Spider-Man' Workout
He's this summer's ripped and rugged superhero, but “Spider-Man” star Tobey Maguire didn't become the biggest and baddest "swinger" in the universe all by himself.
To help Tobey get all "bugged out," the guys from Holistic Fitness put him in a state of the art workout web. Tobey says, “I like it. It gives you a lot of energy. You just have to be very conscious.”
Creator Gregory Joujon-Roche says, “It’s about getting in touch with yourself and knowing your limitations and how your body works."
Gregory leads a force of health and fitness gurus. They've chiseled stars like Demi Moore in “G.I. Jane” and guided Maguire into an ultimate state of synergy between physical and mental well being.
Former Navy S.E.A.L. Duffy Gaver was the front man on the mission.
He revealed how he transformed Maguire from a "frail and very
unassuming" physique in the movie “Cider House Rules” to a rock
solid stud. He says, “Tobey met us completely and stuck with
his diet and stuck with the workouts.”
Tobey spent six months, six days a week in brutal basic training. Besides pumping major iron, he learned martial arts compliments of Steven Ho. He says, “He was into it as an art form as opposed to just learning the tricks."
There was also power and balance training, gymnastics, neuromuscular conditioning, and massage.
While embracing holistic fitness as a lifestyle, Tobey knows the buffed bod he sported as “Spider-Man” will forever be a tough act for even him to follow. He admits, “Well, I can't say that I’ve kept up quite that regimen of training."
