Follow the Sun -- and the Stars
When it comes to great getaways, the stars know how to travel -- and as the weather heats up, the muy caliente spot for the jet set is Cabo San Lucas, in Baja, Mexico. "It's definitely a big celebrity hot spot," says Ondine Cohane of Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
Cabo’s where you'll find star couples like newlyweds Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman enjoying the sand and surf, as well as "Newlyweds," Nick and Jessica; and new parents Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris "Coldplay" Martin. Even Simon Cowell comes here.
And Cabo was where Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt caught some sun before jetting off to Paris, recently. But if you can get a bit of French chic without logging the air miles. According to travel expert Peter Greenberg, "If you want a European experience without having to cross the ocean, go up to Quebec."
Greenberg says you can vacation like the stars, *and save money, north of the border: "Canada is still a great bargain."
But if you’re in the mood for someplace more exotic, think Mauritius. John Travolta and Kelly Preston lounged around this small island in the Indian Ocean.
Team Travolta traveled to Florence, Italy for some family fun, while, not so far away, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and George Clooney made a splash recently when they hopped a yacht to vacation off the Italian coast.
Keeping with the Mediterranean mood, Naomi Campbell was in St. Tropez for her thirty-fourth birthday. Oscar winner Adrien Brody was also there to take in the French scene.
Meanwhile, in cooler climes, Matthew Broderick and Sara Jessica Parker explored the land of leprechauns, while grabbing a pint and a bit of shopping in low key Dublin, Ireland.
But it seems Ms. Campbell only likes it hot -- and high-class -- as she chooses to stay at the world’s only seven star hotel, in Middle Eastern Dubai.
And speaking of hot, for tennis star Serena Williams, the Caribbean island of Barbados is the spot to soak up a little sun.
But you don’t have to go abroad for vacation. Case in point, The Soprano's Jamie Lynn Discala, who chooses the good old U.S. of A -- and the Big Apple to be exact -- because "I love shopping!"
