Simon and Sharon Team for Talent Show with a Twist

He just helped crown a new "American Idol," and now -- in an "Extra" exclusive -- we've learned what Simon Cowell is up to next, and it could be his biggest and boldest project yet. It's called "The X-Factor," and it's another talent completion, but this time with a twist.

We caught up with Simon and Sharon Osbourne, who's signed on to be one of "The X-Factor" judges, and he described the show to us: "There's no age range. Singing groups can enter. Judges are in competition with each other. It's got everything."

And what about working with his new celebrity companion? Simon told us, "Sharon is actually afraid of me. Look at her fear."

And he was only half-kidding. There had been a little tension between the two stars earlier this year -- when Simon appeared on Sharon's TV show, here's how she introduced him: "My next guest thinks that my daughter is fat, not talented, that the Osbournes are over, and that my husband faked an accident to get a number one single."

We recently spotted Simon and Sharon at LA's star-favored restaurant, "The Ivy," where the two seemed chummy enough, but quickly went their separate ways after lunch. At the time, Simon gave us his take on the team-up: "We may be forced to work together, so I'm not very happy."

But the two were all smiles last night talking about "The X-Factor." The show will air in Europe and so many people have tried out that thousands have been turned away. But will "The X-Factor" be coming to America? On that one subject, Simon's staying mum.
