Sly's Knockout Punch
"Extra" caught up with the champ of
Hollywood himself, Sly Stallone, as "Rocky" wannabes
came out swinging at Tuesday's Los Angeles auditions for his
upcoming reality TV show, "The Contender."
The hopefuls were joining thousands of others
across the country who are fighting it out for a part in the
new NBC series, which is shaping up as a kind of "American
Idol' in boxing gloves.
"We're going to have some bad guys, guys you're just going to despise," Sly told "Extra." "But then again, we've all known a few of those in our life."
Sly cooked up the show with two fellow Hollywood heavyweights
-- Jeffrey Katzenberg of DreamWorks and mister reality TV himself,
Mark Burnett. Stallone and boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard will
help coach and train 16 amateur contestants as they fight it
out for fame and fortune in the pro ring.
Meanwhile, we did a little rumor control about Sly himself climbing back into the ring one more time in "Rocky 6." "I think it's going to happen," Stallone said. "The story is extremely valid and personal and I'd like to end the series with that message."
And with "The Contender" on its way, that would be a powerful one-two punch. |
