'Idol' Insider: Music Man
Wednesday night is the moment of truth, narrowing the "American Idol" playing field down to two hopeful contestants. America has voted -- will the right pair be left standing?
Fantasia, Diana and Jasmine got three chances to impress, Tuesday night, but according to recording icon and guest judge Clive Davis, it was a one-woman show. "This was really a signal night for Fantasia," Davis told us.
"Extra" was with the judges when the music ended, and we found out that hip-hop maven Missy Elliott is already preparing to produce for Fantasia. "In five seconds she said, ‘She's the real deal, I'm going to write material,'" Clive revealed. "We're going to do a real proper recording album; we're not doing a TV souvenir album."
Paula Abdul told us that the competition now has a maturity issue: "It's hard to know what it feels like with heartbreak and to know what it's like to be all alone when you're singing about broken hearts when you're 16-years-old."
But Judge Randy Jackson insisted that it's all about talent. "I hope it comes down to Diana and Fantasia," he told us. "They're the two best left. Kelly Clarkson was the right winner, Ruben was the right winner, and I trust that the right winner will happen this time. "
And if Fantasia makes it through, she may be able to thank Whitney Houston. Fantasia, who sang Houston's "The Greatest Love of All," brought back memories for Clive, who says he's ready to reunite with the superstar, revealing "She and I have agreed to get together in the next four to six weeks."
Find out if Fantasia makes it to the final two, Wednesday night on FOX.
